Welcome to OMegOOdyssey!

The title of this blogsite refers to a series of ideas that I hope to share and enter into discussions with you on.  The first is OM, which in many parts of the world is considered the initiatory vibratory sound of the universe and beginning of both Hindu and Buddhist mantras.  The ideas and experiences shared on this site are intended to provoke awe in our world as well as to question what we are doing to it and to each other.  This leads into the second part of the title ‘egO,’ which refers to both ego as self and egg as the beginning of life. The blog posts are based in experiences as understood by my ‘self,’ but are also intended as springboards for ‘hatching’ new ideas or insights. The last part of the title ‘Odyssey’ refers to the travelogues that are posted as well as life’s journey in general.  The capitalization of the two OOs in the middle, which can’t appear in the domain name, are like eyes to the world.  The blogposts reflect a perception of the experiences, i.e., how I see places and events, and are centered around that which inspires reflection and, hopefully, understanding.

I am starting this blogsite as I am now too old for the World Nomads insurance, which stops at 70!, and they will no longer let me post to my former website. There is quite a bit information on that site and photos that I hope give a sense of the beauty and diversity of our world. 

The first blog on this site is from Muscat, Oman at the beginning of an extended tour to Australia and New Zealand in Spring 2024.
